KPR - I don't think AM57 know anyone doing it, but Walmart has been selling bolts for years to some one who is doing illegal things. And every Walmart seems to be the same - Halifax, Truro, etc. I was told they sell about 12 dozen a year in Truro. To who ??
I would like to see a panplet with a questionaire, a BANS application, etc passed out with the bow stamp. But there is a lot of work to do before that happens.

HW, Saw something interesting on the news the other night. Lawn pesticides are banned for use in city limits or Hfx. county, not sure which but they are still sold at stores. Apparently sales are still happening and now the push is on for banning having them on the store shelves/sales/possesion.....
Maybe this is something that could be put fwd? No sales of scents or crossbows/crossbow gear? Illegal is illegal...hash is legally sold over the counter in Holland and I can't buy it here because it is,right? Why not the same for these items?
At the meeting in the spring, How long do you know what the resolutions being put fwd are? Overnight maybe? If so, would it be possible/allowable to post them online and have members voice a short yeah or nea to be tallied/considered in the morning before voting?(kinda without debate just a short reason, if need be/wanted, on why they voted that way) Most hotels have internet hookups...if possible, I could helpout with that.(work schedule)
Pointy...yes I am a bowhunter, however first and foremost I am a HUNTER by any/all means, I enjoy taking on new challenges (I would see a crossbow as new) I am also a poor wordsmith and a sailor please don't take anything "off the lip" personally. As I said earlier, seeing how things are done now makes things alot clearer.

Unfortunately, because of the fact we get little or no input prior to the AGM for resolutions, most of the BANS resolution begin at the GAM and get wordsmithed before sending to the Federation. Unfortunately, the resolutions from the other 30 or so organizations are only know to us the night before the Federation AGM. It is probable that by October, and our AGM, we have an idea what the other groups ae thinking and can poll the members at the AGM for their opinions, perhaps word our resolutions around what we know other folks are doing, etc. Because of the discussion that ensues, the AGM is the most important and perhaps the focal point of the year. It is surprising that about 30 % of BANS members do not supply an e-mail address and quite a few do not use computers where in most organizations it is about 15 %.
As far as making it illegal to sell, I believe there are federal laws regarding competion and the like that may make it legally tricky to ban the sales, even those the possession is illegal. In most cases, the onus is on the little guy to follow the rules.

Lips getting pretty sore from biting it!!! As for leting people know what resolutions were being taken to the federation, they were in the spring bulletin, BUT !!!due to lack of interest and participation from members to help out and submit ideas or articles it was a bit delayed gettting finished until after the federation meeting. My bad I guess! So come on guys get more involved , still nothing for input on the summer Bulletin other than a few Ideas I have been gathering and working on. Could always use KPRS rantings but the thing would take up all the web site space and weigh to much to mail out Good to see your still watching from a distance Clair

Not a bad idea - it's too bad pics cost so much to reproduce in a newsletter.
But that being said, alot of Neil's could be put in an editorial section of the newsletter.

I think you could write a few sories and articles, just as well as you can post pics, from what I've read online. Gee - the BANS newsletter isn't the HARVARD Vanguard.

That is a story that can put up quite a few points. 1-The politicians are being fed and using propaganda from the x-bow manufacturers. 2- NY has no x-bow season. 3- This young man has not tried to use a vertical bow.(which have been designed to be used by someone like this) 4- NY has a x-bow association. 5- The x-bow association is using this young man's disability to further it's agenda. 6-NY has a shotgun season 7- Horton would not sell many x-bows if they were only allowed in the shotgun season.
And last but not least, War sucks.

Great idea John. This young man could use the help of bowhunters to continue bowhunting. As it is stated in the newspaper article he wants to change the laws in his state. This could take a couple of years according to the story. By outfitting him with a verticle bow, he could be bowhunting with his father this year. Forget about the x-bow politics and get back to bowhunting. The NABC should be contacted on this.

KPR - I shot with with a great guy from NB that las lost his right arm, just below the elbow. He was unaware of the work done by organizations, but had helpped other to do what he was doing or similar. He had mad a fitting for his prothesis that worked with a release as you would use for a compound. He had modified it and attached a long miodified cable release from a camera s that he could sctivate the release with his mouth. He held the bow with his left hand, after nocking the arrow, connected the rlease, drew and released. He shot very well. It was an inspiration to see.
There are lots of possibilites for disabled people, without the use of a firearm or crossbow. Some will explore them, some won't. But a cross bow is not the only answer for disabled people .

I agree 100% but I firmly believe people should also have a choice.
