Have seen a few deer up to now. Had a big Doe at 20 yards but because of Raspberry canes in the way .......no shot. Hunted most of the day last Friday never saw a thing and when I got back to camp there were 2 does at the end of the driveway. Lots of feed , cover, bedding and safety for the deer in the growing up choppings and not much out in the Big woods. When a killing frost hits we should see some action. Good hunting John.

Well I was up to my neighbors land several times last week I took Camron one day and his older sister another. The only thing we seen moving was a coyote running up the tote road. The stand of woods I'm putting my money on has trials, paths, and a couple of supper highways the deer have been using. I habe also found lots of bear poo which has answered the age old question,do bear's poo in the woods. The answer is NO they poo on the road. Do'n t know if I'll get a chance to go up there this week due to myself and momma having lots of appointments to deal with.

I have had a few does in bow range so far, but, the only two bucks I have seen, stayed well outside my range. As for the bears, I had one encounter with a 100 lb'er so far, no other sightings. I do have a big ol boy hitting the bait, but, I assume he's nocturnal. I put a trailcam in there last weekend. Hopefully, I'll know soon how big and when he's hitting.

I had a coyote come into within 6 yards of my tree stand while I was deer hunting with my recurve. He came head on so I couldn't draw. He eventully walked over to my tree stand ladder, sniffed it, looked up and saw me and high tailed it. Still great to see it. Only saw three does with my bow. Still a few days left though.

What I forgot to mention about my hunting season is that I am hunting with a new partner this year. A while back on the NSH website a young man (15) asked if anyone hunted on the Eastern Shore. He wanted to get into hunting but had no one to take him. I think you even inquired to him BEA. Well I e-mailed him because we lived 5 minutes apart, and we started hunting. The kid was a great guy. His parents didn't hunt so he was on his own. I am not very knowledgeable but told him what I could. He has been bow hunting with me around 20 times already and loves it. We saw three does one night and he was so nervious, his shaking likely scared them off. It was great to see someone get so excited. He's got the fever now. He'll be 16 next year and able to hunt and wouldn't you know it, he's bought a bow last week and joined our bow club. He wants to take his gun and bow courses next year and his fur harvesters in the future. What a great experiance helping introducing a youngster into hunting. This kid is going to become a very dedicated outdoors man. Hopefully next year, he can bag a buck or bear. We'll have to wait and see.

biggame , I think that I remember him asking over on NSH. I would like to not only congratulate you but also thank you for stepping up. There are not a lot of people who would.
I have taken my eldest son(6) and eldest daughter(7) out this year on afternoons during bow season. Had a lot of fun asking them questions and answering their questions. I pray that I am able to get them involved and keep then involved as they get older.

It was one of the best moves I made. This kid is great. I am really glad I contacted him.Not only will he be a future hunting/fishing partner, he is also becoming a pretty good buddy of mine. I am always willing to try to help people start hunting. I introduced another buddy into archery this year also. He never shot before, but he bought my old compound after convincing him to try it one night, took the bow hunting course and joined our bow club. Now he is hooked too. He was already into gun hunting but it was still fun getting him in to another type of hunting by sighting in his bow with him and helping him learn to shoot (not that I should be teaching anyone).
