Kudos on helping out a newbie Biggame. I know i could have used a hunting mentor at that age. My hunting partner & i took our kid's (2 each) out for a night at the camp last saterday, & i took my eldest to a ground blind for the evening hunt, where he fell asleep for a while & then wanted to go back & warm up at about 4:15. Sunday morning we all went for a nature / scouting trip & found some road killed deer skeletons (where DNR dumps them in that area ). They thought they had hit the JACKPOT.

My little boy is only 11 months old. I can't wait till I can take him to the camp so he can fall asleep deer hunting like I used to do with my Dad.

I was very close to my first bow kill on the weekend. I had a partridge at 20 yards (which is about the maximum for my range). It was a difficult shot because I had to kneel to take the shot. I knocked a judo point and let her fly but I just winged the bird's feet and it flew off. Oh so close. If only ithe arrow had been about two inches higher. I am just aching to get something with my bow. Maybe next weekend.

Sorry to hear about your near miss. Look at it this way, such a small target not so bad if you miss. Think how you would have felt if it had beenthe big guy. ;D

Atleast he would have seen a big guy!! I hunted all day friday, saw & heard nothing but squirrels, and got soaked to the core all morning, trying to still hunt around a big swamp, home for a bite & change clothes & sat in a treestand from 1:30-dark , on a good trail bordering a chopping & saw & heard nothing but squirrels. Planned the same for saterday, but couldn't muster the energy to walk to the swamp, so i hunted a couple of apple trees that are still dropping the last of their apples. guess what saw. Frigging squirrels ( no offence Phil ) took my boy to hockey practise, back to the apple trees at 2:45 & 2 deer had been thru, but kept on going, so i did too, out to the swamps edge again to watch them cursed tree rats some more. Then on the walk out, just as i get to them apple trees "SOMETHING" busts out from under them, into a fallow field & stops. I couldn't find it with the flashlight & decided i was starting to have less than pure thoughts & better get back to the house.

aplo thats funny, squirels. I had my son out to my new blind this afternoon. We're sitting there inding our business when one of those little red bastards come along. He gives us nuts then runs over my quiver and finally up a tree over a branch then across my lap and up my arm. My son had a heck of a laugh over that one. No deer though.

Looks like a might need snowshoes for this weekend. I don't remember the last time we had this much snow (20cm) this early on the Eastern Shore. We don't normally get this until January. Should help the bunnies. Looks like it is going to be fun this Saturday. Can't wait to go.

If there are any other rabbit hunters that want to get together for a rabbit bowhunting day out, let me know and maybe we can get together. It's always funner in a group.
