I was asked by 2 seperate individuals lately if I had heard about all the changes coming in this year's season. So has anyone heard these: 1)Bow season will be shortened by 2 weeks ie will start two weeks later. 2)The general season will end 2 weeks earlier. This is to give larger mature bucks that come into the rut later a change to breed(?) 3)Crossbows will be allowed in the reduced early bow season. 4)No bonus tags. I am calling bs on #1 and #2, and #4 will be based on zones and probably true for my zone 102/2A.

I haven't heard anything like that No Luck...but who knows what they're up to??? They do still have the primitive weapons season proposal, supposedly, in their legal department for final approval...and it doesn't entail what those rumours are suggesting. The primitive weapons season, IMHO, was a slap in the face to the hunting organizations in the province...essentially a message to all hunters that "We will do as we d**n well please..."...and they are proving it again with the proposed revisions of the Zone 5 moose hunt. So stuff like this wouldn't surprise me at all. Zone 102 can do without the bonus tags...the hunter harvest there has declined every year since it was introduced. So it accomplished what it set out to do...reduce the deer numbers in that area. It's not the bucks that are late to rut...it's the does that have yet to come into 'season'. The bucks'll breed from the middle of October on, if they can find a receptive doe. As an FYI...the New Brunswick season does exclude the heavy rut...ie. mid to late November. There is, officially, no changes on the books to any of the Regulations...nothing shows in the Royal Gazette, where they would be published. But that can change...
