Maybe I'm getting too cranky as I get older but this is ridiculous. No selling of weapons on the BANS ??
we are a group of hunters , hello!!!!! To me this is unaccepatable. IMO we need to get a new site or just hook on to pova scotia Hunting as our new home.
I have been a member of BANS for several years now and although the group does great things for bowhunters in this provincial I am dismayed at how we are "making out".
I may be wrong but I am assuming that our median age is creeping higher. I have been told that our core membership stays relatively constant but that we lose a significant portion of the new ten dollar memberships we give out at the bow courses. WHY?? has anyone asked WHY ??
In my mind we need to keep these new people informed about what BANS does. It is keep to keeping and growing our membership.
IS funding (if so why ??) an issue with moving to another board, promotion?? Is the association looking at another site??? I see other associations raising their profile by having events,, etc get togethers raising funds through draws tickets etc. VISIBILITY.
I spent a half hour at last sunday's bow course explaining why they should join provincial hunting associations. What these associations do for us and the next generation of hunters. A good dialogue with the students and I did tell them that some associations do a lot of good but a lot of the good deeds under the radar as much of it goes unnoticed. A crest will only go so far.
To those that aren't members - why aren't you a member??
what would you like to see for you to join?
what impression will these new members get when we say we're protecting their hunting rights when we can't even sell a recurve on our own website. Saying sorry is not just enough.
Sorry for the rant but I got in late this morning and was in a mood to start a rant about something and this seemed important to me.
