We have seen the formation of a couple of new associations lately, nsach and nsbha, it appears they are working in concert and have made quite a splash with DNR and the hunting community. As a group I think maybe we should start an effort to have a bans fun day. I realize that we have the bangup plus the agm, and I also realize that individually we have very little time for anything but we will be left behind if we don't try. I noticed that the nsach provided prizes to the recent nsbha day. Were we approached by either group requesting anything? I am willing to try and arrange some kind of a day but I will need help and obviously BANS will have to be on board with this. First thing would be a time, then a place and finally an itinary. I was figuring no one wants to do this during the hunting season, the summer is full of vacationing, 3d shoots and for me overtime at work. This leaves the winter and spring. Anyone have any pros and cons for these times? Next is location, central is better. What is the best most equal location for everyone? Truro maybe? Maybe somewhere in Shubie? Finally what will we be doing? I feel we need to be informal and open to any interested people. Maybe invite nsfah, nsbha, tans, DNR (maybe a speaker), other archery groups and any other groups that we feel would add to the day. Lunch ?? depends on where we are what else gets arranged. Maybe a couple of targets and small informal fun shoot? A few prizes? Lots to think about and work on. But the bottom line is that we make the effort and offer an opportunity to network and possible open lines of communication to strenghten our community and project a good public image.

great idea. it seems that the new associations have ben able to get people motivated and the squeaky wheel is getting the grease.
While BANS has done some good things it would seem to me that we need some sort of infusion. New associations usually have go getter members to push their new agendas forward. Old established ones sometimes have members fall into complacency.
In that regards perhaps some sort of media or membership drive, etc might wake us all up.
The number of posts on this forum is a bit disconcerting when you compare it to the number of posts on the NShunting bowhunting forum.

There are a few things that need work to keep support up. DNR has a new FUN (families uniting with nature) program they want to kick off and get all groups involved with and make it an annual thing.
Everyone wants to check something "new" out but the long term support is the big problem with peoples work and life schedules so busy these days.
These new groups dont have the #s they carry on about either! The big associations got everything going and represented everyone and now they want the easy in. Less load for the big groups but now they want to change everything over night, lots of time and volunteers involved.

So Rob, this DNR FUN day, what do we know about it? Is it going to be province wide or one gather?

Judy Clattenburg introduced it at the BIANS update and would like to see a couple held annualy in various parts of the province.
Familly activity day with demonstartions and archery and x-bow test shoots, fishing demos, tent set-up, fire building, etc...........
and they want to set up something similiar for the practical assesment phase of all future online training, hunter ed, bowhunter, x-bow and trapper education.
Do all your online theory at your own pace then go to a field day with the instructors and complete your certifications for all courses completed in a couple hours.
