I did manage to get out Saturday afternoon. It was pretty warm until the sun started to go down. I spooked a deer still hunting, all I saw was a tail going. Also had a discussion with a skunk as to who should have the right of way up the trail! Seen a grouse and of course walking out spooked 2 does but it was past shooting time. Next trip out will be Monday afternoon.

Monday was mostly quiet. Spooked a deer only caught a glimpse. That was it for Monday, but today was much better! I walked out on a doe that was switching trails, she looked at me and I glared back at her. At first I judged the distance too far and decided not to shoot. Then I started trying to get a better read on the distance and realized that she was within my range. Then I decided I might take the shot but she decided she'd looked at me for long enough and turned back the way she came. I walked it off and realized that she was only 18yrds from me well within me distance but she couldn't have been very big. Next was me stumbling through the bushes only to spook a very large deer, I don't know if it was a doe or a buck, it was silouetted on a little rise that opens into a 15year old chopping so it just disappeared into the bushes, but what a rush! Also saw a hare with white paws and what I think was a woodthingy jumped up and flew straight up and then once clear of the bushes flew out, like a chopper! All in all an excellent afternoon! How is everyone else doing?

Well ! given up on bear for the year. we have a couple big smart ones there that have run the small ones out and they only give us a quick peek at them once in awhile, they know when were there and wont come out. atleast we fatened them up good for next year.
Anyone seeing deer yet?

Between a lung infection and the rain - have bow hunted a total of 6 hours so far. One area that I used to hunt is now a moonscape where you can see over a mile due to whole tree harvesting for the boilers -

Well the deer season is almost over. Since passing up a doe in the early season I have only had a couple of encounters of deer. Looking around the few times I get out there are no signs anywhere. I think the 2 tags the last couple of years have destroyed the population here. But here is hoping for Friday afternoon and maybe Saturday! How has everyone else done? Any more pics?

Well the deer season is said and done! I managed to get out Friday afternoon but when I got home little Ali was getting sick and I was up with her most of the night and didn't get out Saturday at all 'cause just when she fell asleep, finally, Sammy started to get sick. Oh well I see why some hunters use bait piles, no time to put into scouting and doing some real hunting. I will have to consider changing things up next Fall. I might have some time off over Christmas, maybe get some bunny hunting done. Anyone else planning on going bunny hunting with bows this season?

yup, a buddy of mine and I shoot 30-40 arrows a night three night a week at 5-12 yards indoors and I'm looking forward to getting out on the weekend to go for some bunnies. Probably shut down during Christmas and get a few more days as well. Got some new pink and neon lime 5 inch feathers to let fly at them.

Just a reminder, maybe a little late, maybe timely, but today, Dec 21st, bear hunting reports are due. Even if you bought a tag and never hunted you have to report it. It can be done online and is quick and easy.
