Quiet round here (on the board) lately. Here is the question: what are peoples ambitions for the upcoming hunting season? My hope is just to get out, because not only do we have the twins but I just had leg surgery and will be down for awhile. I haven't fired the bow in like 2 months! My big plans are to get out and get a deer, thats it. So as soon as I am mobile I have to get practising again. So who else has what hopes for the new season?

Oh, also for anyone who is thinking about it, don't forget the moose draw!

Quiet everywhere ! Wonder what all the NSH regulars are doing? That site has been down for over a month and still we have no activity here! Guess the novilty of forums is wearing out like support for Outdoors associations! I just want something in the freezer this year! anything but skunk

Sorry to hear about your leg .I broke my in two places in Jan 2008.It was a long year but I got my first deer with a bow that year . I am looking forward to this year .I pit in for the moose draw last night .DNR were really late with it this year . Of course I dream of taking a moose with my bow .fingers crossed . Already have my vacation booked for the first week of deer season of course it is the same week I put in for the moose draw but would be willing to sacrifice if I was picked .

Good start BEA! Do wild boars taste much like pig or does it have its own distinctive taste? Is it difficult to travel to the US to hunt carrying firearms and bows?

the boar meat is delicious....it's more like say bear meat than regular pork....it's not white/grey like pork but a very nice looking red meat. it really is one of my favorite wild game i've tried so far.
guns require paperwork but bow you just drive across with them no paperwork in required.

Zone 2 Season one.I was in Cape Breton in 2003 with my brother .we were using the fire sticks then (ha ha ) For me personally a moose would be the pinnacle of my hunting experience .

The wife and I got some kid coverage and headed to the rifle range to break a few clays down in Milton. I probably shouldn't have as my leg and knee pretty much locked up once we got home, but we had a good time except for the huge number of flies and the GD ticks! Yes the TICKS are out already! Check the pets and check yourselves when you come in from outside.

Well, i'm going to miss the first week of the bow season this year, but it isn't all bad. I'll be headed home (NFLD) for the first time in quite a while. My grandparents will get to meet the kids and I might get to join in a moose hunt with my uncles! Fingers crossed for that one! Once I land back here I have to work the next couple of days but then look out deer the recurve will be tried out!

well I managed to get a doe tag for zone 108 this year ... and my trailer has been sitting there for 2 years now so.... I can also easliy hunt in the 107 zone where i don't need a doe tag so...... I'm hoping to get a deer this year with my longbow if I can put the extra effort into getting into the woods this fall. after that who knows I might even see if there a bear or two still kicking around in the woods up on that old mountain

Back home from the rock. Had a good time except for the whole Igor part, my uncle lost his trailer that he lived in for the last 36yrs. That sucked! Didn't get to go out moose hunting that starts this Saturday. But I am back and while I have to work today and tomorrow, I will start my deer season on friday! Going out with the recurve, I can't wait!
