This is just some info that I feel I would like to share with everyone. I bought a popup ground blind last year. I love it but don't use it very much. Last year in the week before the open deer season I was sitting in it and had a 3 point buck walk right up to it, only thing was it came in at an angle that I didn't see him, anyway I sipped some tea from my thermos and he snorted and bolted and I spilled my tea! Oh well, that isn't the info I have to share, this is; In the blind windows is 'shoot through material'. This fall I decided to try to 'shoot through' and see what happened. So I setup back about 18 to 20 mtrs from my 3d buck, and let rip. Well, I am glad that I tested that out before I got out in the field. First was the noise, it was a loud snapping sound, i'm am positive an deer could have jumped that shot. Then when I looked down range, I could see my arrow had hit the target right where I aimed but something was wrong. It was in the vitals but at an angle, when I walked over it was sitting something around 45 degrees! Then I noticed 2 of the flights where hanging off! Then I pulled the arrow out and only 1 full blade was left, a second blade was snapped off and the third blade just gone! My arrow was completely screwed! I always check my arrows before shooting them and this one was in fine shape from tip to nock. So in the end I would say that shoot through mesh isn't. I had always pulled down the mesh in the window that I was using for my shooting lane and leaving up the other 2 mesh screens and saying that if the shot came from that window I would just shoot through, but after that I decided that I will never ever shoot through at anything, open windows only. So has anyone else ever tried this and what happened?

I have never seen them with shoot through mesh. My blind windows opens completely up but I don't think it is big enough to shoot a bow in.

were you using expandables? they dont reccomend them for shooting through screens. And you cant practice with field points because the fletching is biger than the tip!!
I switched to Montec G5 (solid machined fixed blades) shoot true as a field point, I didnt believe it either until I tried them. I never shot my compound past 30 yards until I got them, now 40 and 50 yards with broadheads smackin the bull consistantly, even watched JOJO shooting them at 80 yds with his APA dead on!! And have switched to 2" blazer vanes aligned with the blades, very nice!!!!!!!! and true shooting

Sorry it took so long to reply, when I work that is pretty much all I do, work, come home, sleep, and go back to work. I was using Thunderheads, that is all I have ever used. I switched from 125g to 100g hoping to get further but keep accurate but really didn't help or make any difference.

Welcome aboard Smitty54. Are you new to bowhunting? That sounds like quite the setup you have there! I bet those 150g 4 blade broadheads make a very large exit!

Smitty, how many pins are you using and what distances do you have them set for? On my compound I use only one pin and do alot of judging distances. It shoots flat from 10yrds to 20yrds and past that I know how far to come up based on distance, but past 25yrds I personally don't feel comfortable taking a shot anyway.
