I'll second it by saying that I'm a trad shooter I guess....well, I shoot a recurve bow glass backed, with modern string material....

Traditional or primitive, depending what you consider primitive.

Compound, recurve, primative, longbow, whichever is within grabbing distance. For hunting though, I am back to a compound. I want the accuracy.

For me it has been a laminated longbow or R/D for the last 25 years. Before that I used a wheely bow and a selfbow even earlier. I shoot selfbows quite regularly and one day I hope to hunt with one but for now it is my 58'' R/D that I built 5 yrs ago. Twenty years back I owned a compound and used it for sales purposes, as I was repairing and selling them at the time. For now I am still enjoying the fun of using just two sticks and a string.I love the smell of cedar. It is a challenge, and like the late Howard Hill called his book, 'Hunting the Hard Way'.

This year I wil be hunting with a R/D longbow and one of a few self bows. I have a recurve I have used a couple of times for bunny hunting.

Well we had 26 people look at the poll and only 7 replied. And I realize that some of us maybe looked twice that still leaves over half that do not want to say what they shoot, or maybe they shoot a X BOW. M,G,

I thought it indicated just how little traffic this forum gets....and that all who will, have already responded.

I think you could be correct on the alpo. Sad because this could be a great place to discuss bowhunting related topics and issues. All BANS members and non members are free to use the forums. I think this was a good topic because I'd truly like t know how many folks use different types of bows. I would seem that folks have either run the full range of options, or have at the least tried different types of bows. In the "shooters" world there is a very distinct line between the classifications of bows. In bowhunting the limitations and distinctions are shall I say diminished (or should be) because it should be about skill, knowledge, proper equipment and the timely and successfully harvest of the game animal.
