Mainland Moose Awareness Day
The mainland moose is one of Nova Scotia’s endangered species. It is Nova Scotia’s largest animal of the deer family and current estimates place the number of animals at approximately 1000.
Come and learn more about this intriguing animal.
The Bowhunters Association in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters will be hosting the Department of Natural Resources presentation in a “Mainland Moose Awareness Day”. There will be presentations by DNR biologists and conservation officers.
There will be a moose calling competition with a top prize for those over 14 and under 14.
Where: Stewiacke Community Hall, above the Fire Department
When: January 25, from 12 until 4
Admission: Free

Thank you John Veres and DOnnie Mattinson for organizing the Mainland Moose Awareness day in Stewiacke !
I would also like to thank Tony Nette and Sarah Spencer for an informing talk about the Mainland moose and the challenges to be face in the Recovery program. I apologize for not being able to stay for the whole lecture, but those I talked to all founf it informative and well worth attending.
Watch for more Awaremness days as other conservation groups will be putting them on in Halifax mid February and at other times and places.
