as discussed in other threads, maybe we should explore revising the regulation that requires us to hunt from registered bait sites. making it possible for hunters to attempt stalking & calling or hunting natural funnels & food sources without bait & with the lee-way to roam the territory a bit while hunting.....
just a thought as both kpr & huntwisely have expressed a desire to try it the harder way.

I looked into this a bit Alpo... They will say to wait until the General Open Season. The reason of the registered sites is that it's an "early" season and they want to know where/why and who is travelling with firearms and bait.

I have to agree with ltkp about the roaming around. The reason that we have a nice early season is because we are willing to register our sites and stay put. This was possibly how we managed to get the season, because we would not be as obtrusive as deer hunters in the general season. We could talk to the DNR managers and find more info, or just leave well enough alone. After all it is pretty sweet as it is. JMO

I figure since we can hunt bears without bait in the regular deer season, that's a good compromise - as long as we keep getting these warm, open falls.
