Do you need an AANS membership for this shoot?

I have never been asked if I was a member. I used to be part of the Bay Archers and we made it mandatory to belong to AANS. The shoot however attracts a large cross section of Archers etc. I will post this on the AANS site and find out for sure . I believe you can shoot without membership to AANS because it is not an AANS sanctioned 3D event. I will get back to you BG. Personally I dont shoot anywhere without AANS membership but thats me. John.

Sorry BG I asked Terry but he never got back to me . I have never seen them ask for membership to AANS.If they did , they would see a lot of people leave the arena. The insurance thing and AANS membership is an old topic . One I wont debate anymore. lol. Hope to see you there. John.

I'd love to go but doesn't look good for this weekend. I have never been to a 3D shoot yet. I am really going to try this year, but it won't be this one. I hope to meet you at the next one Ironfist. Just a quick question, do you use your self bows for 3D shoots? Or do you use long bows/ recurves?

Went to the shoot today, strictly observing. Three questions.... First, The Recurve bow shooters seem to lean while shooting. Why? Second How are the hits scored? Third I saw one fellow with two sets of fletchings on his arrows...pretty sure thats what I saw... What is the purpose of this? KPR ;D

Lite....The trad shooters tend to do that . They shorten up thier draw especially the longbow shooters. Everybody seems to have a different style. Its anything goes really. The scoring is 10 points 8 points and 5 points. This is for hitting the heart lung area for 10 , the vitals in general for 8 and anywhere else 5 points. Not sure about the two sets of fletchings maybe just a fetaher style of cut.

Thanks IF, Grabbed a pic from video, poor quality as indoor and all, looked to be two fletch inline. Differant for sure, first time I've ever seen it , interesting. I curse enough with one set coming off...lol Fletch was alot smaller and alot more rounded than mine as well. KPR ;D

KPR - Ive seen the fletches you are talking about on 2 compound shooter's arrows this year. The fletches are there to straighten the arrow out after bending arounf the handle of the bow. So - I presume it is an effort to get better flight.
Folks are always experimenting and there is always someone selling the "latest thing" in this catalog or that.
