The NABC's mission statement:
The North American Bowhunting Coalition, comprised of state,
provincial and national bowhunting organizations, works on behalf of current and future generations of bowhunters to promote, preserveand defend the ideals of bowhunting.
As mentioned in the Summer Bulletin, BANS is affiliated with NABC and I am the designated Rep.
Here are some of the issues than NABC is currently looking at:
- Crossbows: Same issues all over most are against them but there are some strong forces pushing to have them legalised for hunting everywhere. And NABC is promoting and educating dissabled Hunters about there alternatives and modifications that can be made to their equipment to keep them involved with Bowhunting. Check out their website for more info.
- Urban Deer Management: Basically our Zone 2 problem is a North American wide problem and all agencies and associations are working to keep the residents and hunters happy and find resonable solutions.
- Trail Cameras: Some are starting to question the ethical use of modern electronics, are to many hunters using them to collect trophies while the rest of the herd is left to grow out of control or even be wiped out in some areas by too much herd information leading to hunters taking the easy kills.
We recieve regular updates and pass on concerns and progress with our hunting and management issues to NABC.
Bowhunters everywhere are working to keep the future of our sport secure and safe.
