A very good friend of mine took off to Yellowknife last summer, to make some money and be able to spend more time with his family. His son is 7, and though my friend is not a bowhunter himself, when I said that I was making a bow for his son, his response was very enthusiastic, he wanted his son to use archery as his way of getting interested in hunting and the outdoors. Despite the cold weather, his son loves it. Knowing that I helped him accomplish his goal of spending more quality time with his son makes it all worthwhile. Next I will have to make one for him so they can go stump shooting together. The bow is bamboo backed black locust with a bloodwood riser and overlays. It is 38" long and draws ~ 25 pounds at 24". The arrows are douglas fir.

Well done Barry. The youth are the furture in EVERYTHING. The only thing better than getting an email sent to you with picture such as those in it would have been for you to deliver it personally.

Thanks guys. Your right Sheldon, getting those pics back and a story from the dad is a great feeling. I did get to personally deliver it, unfortunately it was when they were back for a funeral.
Later this spring I'm going to make a new form for making kids bows. If we can auction or raffle them off, we will hopefully be getting more bows into kids hands.

Great to see Barry. Always good to see kids like this. I scraped out two Maple bows at work in my break times and gave them to co workers kids . They were 9 and 12 respectively. Since Christmas they have been out in the field constantly. Now they want to know where they can buy archery gear and when are the shoots. One step at a time eh???. Nice story Barry and nice pics John.
