I wont be getting away as much this year but will get in as many hunts as I can. I will be visiting AJ at bears East. Dont know if Somefeathers will be joining me this year. Hes moved way down the valley. But where theres a will theres a way. Good luck everyone. John.

Ironfist glad to hear that you will get some time in the woods this year. I was thinking of buying a tree stand this year but I've choosen power tools instead. Have to have them if I want to make all those shafts for next summer. Now I just have to find that sweet spot to set up a good blind and see if I can get lucky again this tear. Sheldon

recent scouting trips have not been as terrific as i had hoped, seeing some tracks & a few animals, but not overpopulated with deer again this season. I have a ridge that is about 100 yards into the woods from a huge field, the deer walk along the bottom and i spook a deer there atleast twice each season for the last 5 years. I know I am sillohetting myself each time i get busted, so..... I am thinking i will try to build a small ground blind on or just over the ridge in a small stand of spruce trees about 6-8 feet tall, hopefully i can get into it before the action starts this year. Another spot is a huge washout off the other side of the same field, where I have tried in the past & will try again to set up in the bottom of the ditch (after a few days of no rain) under a big blown down tree. The deer paths in that spot go right along either side of the ditch & its leads right to a corn field. These are a couple of the spots a deer will run a long way across open field to get to when spooked by a shot or a 4wheeler, passing several other seemingly good paths, so i am hoping it will be a good spot to attempt an ambush with the bow. I still hunt and use ground blinds when rifle hunting and plan on doing the same this first full year of bow hunting.
I hunt a few ridges and funnels that deer travel and some grown up old pastures from 100 years ago that are surrounded by woods, now. I zig - zag through the woods just off the main trails trying to keep the wind on my cheek and only turn into the wind when I change direction. I hunt the lower parts of the ridge in the evening and the higher, but below the ridge line in the morning. Why - scent rises in the morning and falls in the evening. Good hunting guys !

Not long until the deer draw. Good luck everyone. My hunting rig and back up are singing tight and broadheads sharp as a razor. A new back pack that wears like a fanny but has shoulder straps. Feels like nothing on at all. Later John.

I've had my name in the draw since it opened this year. Sure would like to get picked as this will be my first year in the wood with the bow and I'm looking forward to the hunt.
