I knew there had to be a modern shiny tool somewhere in this build Anybody know where I can find one of those big Ferriers rasps, mine is only a lil wee thing thats course on one end and fine on the other only 4' cutting surface

slinger take a look on the 3rivers site. They have a 14" one for about $16 US or there is a fancy one for about $70.

I made it a string of it's own & did some more scraping. ( still have to clean up ) It is currently pulling about 25 lbs at 25", which is way less than I was shooting for but it will be enough for someone. How much poundage can be gained by shortening the bow a bit. or steaming & re-curving the tips ?

How long is it now ? Shortenening it will add a fair bit depending on the tiller, etc I have knocked 3 inches off and gained 15 or more pounds and I have knocked three inches off and only gained 8-10. You could shorten, and sinew the back - sinewing will add 5-8 pounds depending on how thick it is put on. Sticks would know more anout the recurving the tips.

Looks good, throw some finish on it and give it a home, like you say will make a nice shooter for someone. Lets see another one get started, that was good practice bow!! Ive been busy making a couple for friends and havnt had time for the old Yew, heh! it's already been waiting 63 years! and still calling me from the root cellar
