I'm starting this thread on behalf of AM57 who left today for a spring bear hunt out west. I hope he'll be able to keep us informed on how things go out there, and maybe be able to post some pics. Good luck AM hope you and the grandson have a great trip. ;D Sheldon

good luck AM57, heres hoping you get a big boar, maybe you can track down a half grizz like that 'merican feller did while polar bear hunting. LOL Are you hunting with a guide or freinds over active bait ? or Spot & stalk ?

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have not been to the woods yet, we are going tomorrow. We will not be far enough north to put us in the sunday hunting zone, but we will be there for the week. Two of our patners were up there on the stands for two days already and they saw a total of sixteen bears. One bait has wolves coming. Chad took a nice brown bear on Monday. With his longbow. Maybe HW could post a pic for us. The area where we will be hunting has a 75% population of non black phases. So there is a good chance of seeing blonde, cin, and brown. I'll be back to a puter next week and will let you know how we've done.

not that it's all that important cuz it would be awesome just to see or hear wolves in the wild....but can you shoot one if the opportunity arises?

Here are the pics of some successful spring bear hunters in Alberta, sent by Archeryman_57, (Clair Ross). The first successful, smiling hunter is 12. Chad's bear

wow, them is some big bears. And 12 years old, bow-killing a colour phase bruin that would be 4X - 5X his size. Kudos Kid!

I sat in a stand fifteen feet from Chad, (the man in the picture with the brown bear),in another tree, Saturday eve. Two bears came in and the big guy was not looking for food. He had love on his mind. The rut is just picking up here. The boar went about sniffing where we had walked and then went over to Chad's tree, stood on its hind legs and looked up at Chad through the mesh on the stand's platform. I was wonering to myself just what Chad was thinking at the time. Later he told me that he wanted me to shoot it before it came up the tree. It was a wide open shot at five yards as it stood up against the tree with it's front paws reaching up the tree. But because of the shot angle it would have not been a double lung shot.
