Just as an FYI / follow-up to my earlier posts...
The biologist that looked at my trends has expressed some 'bewilderment' that our DNR is adding seasons and tags when the spring herd numbers are obviously showing a decline. In his constituancy, looking at those trends would result in tags being taken away.
Much hinges on the consistancy in the methods the DNR uses to determine the 'spring herd' numbers...the raw numbers they show as deer need to be considered as 'density units'. If the DNR is consistant, then the trend is definately troublesome. Hopefully, the Federation will take the lead and ask the DNR to address it.

as far as fund raising and increased promotion maybe a draw for a treestand. Low cost and could be sold to all hunters not just the bowhunting community. I am led to believe that our membership is stable. With the number of people that have gone through the bowhunting course the last few years we should have had a decent increase. I know in my part of the province many bowhunters see no benefit in joining for justa crest and little information.
I've told many that we need a voice and BANS is it so that's what they get out of it. Does anyone know what our member retention is, how many new ones we get and how many we lose each year?

retention is quite good but many of the 1/2 price memberships do not get renewed.
We need a newsletter editor. We have one, but time is short and there are very few submissions for the 4 issues we are supposed to put out eah year. I have 2 recent article for a newsletter, if some one wants to step up and give it a go.
This year we have a couple of wildlife prints we will be raffling - marketable to all, not only the hunting community. We will be going to some agricultural events promoting bow hunting and responsible hunting helping with nuisance wildlife problems. Another will be sold at 3D shoots with the draw later in the summer.

excellent. Those are the kinds of things that should be in a newsletter or even a quick email ( a BANS update whixh might help get a few more hits on this site as opposed to NS Hunting) to let the members know what is going. This might help retain more of the half memberships. Send some tickets down to me and I'll make sure we get some sold at the Bayside shoot in August and before.
