I heard you bought Phil's bow PS. Is this true? If it is, you bought a beautiful bow. A guy in our club bought the same bow only in 45#. Man, that ones pulls some smooth. Good luck with it.

I have heard some real good reviews on this bow. You cant go wrong with a Martin they make good bows that the average Joe can purchase without a mortgage. That weight drop will be better for 3D Pointy. Good shooting.

Congrats on the new stick, POINTY STICKS. Maybe I can take a couple shots with it some time, if you don't mind. And a big welcome to the world of longbow shooting.
My grandson got a new bow from his mother two days ago. I started his lessons yesterday and now his new favourite word is BOW. This bow is totaly center shot. As a matter of fact the arrow shoots through a round hole in the handle. The fletching is small enough that it will fit through the shooting hole. I am not sure of the draw weight but is easy to pull back to his draw length. The arrows are made of stiff plastic straws and seem to fly well enough. I think that the suction cup on the front is there to help with the arrow spine. We broke two arrows already so now he is down to one. One he walked on and the other he bent in his hands and it broke. That is what you get when shopping at the dollar store.
But I must say that at 19 months of age Little Hunter is the youngest archer that I have had the pleasure of coaching.
Are there any more new archers out there that got a new bow?

I have 4 "almost ready" bows for 2 neices & 2 nefews. hopefully i find time to put the final touches on them this week & can get them into the hands of some new archers at our family easter feast. That could liven up the ol' easter egg hunting huh?, ....."pick a spot... a little oval pink poka-dotted spot.... now run an arrow through it !"

Spend some late nights working to complete those bows and Easter will be that much better for the new archers.

Just finished my first selfbow...well maybe the second,the first ended up about 18lbs draw so I cut it down and making a kids bow from it. The one I just finished is 68" and 34lbs at 28"draw on the bathroom scale. Its made from Ash I got from a pile of logs that was going to be cut for fire wood. I've read that the first bow are usually end up being a light draw. I'm still learning and really enjoying it. I've been learning from videos and reading. I think it would really help to get some pointers from someone with experience. It's all great...even the mistakes..

IF hope it gets here soon.
Well I started a maple selfbow last weekend. This one is (I think) going to be for my oldest bro in Ont.
Here is the story;
As most of you know my father passed away in Jan of this year. I inherited the cottage along with my mom. It's a 5 acer lot with many sugar maple growing on it. Dad used to love to go up in the spring and tap the trees to make home made maple syrup. One of the large maples on the front lawn had to come down this year so in March we cut it and I kept a length of about 7 1/2 feet and about 10-12 inch dia..
What I plan on doing is making several bows out of this tree to commemorate my father. One of the wall at the cottage (with mom's blessing), one for me and one for my brother. That's the bare minimum. I might make one for my brothers boy as well but I have to see.
This all started when my bro kept asking me to make him ONE arrow in the NS tartin so he could hang it on his wall. Now my plan is to make him a bow, and a half dozen arrows all out of maple from the same tree. Put it together on some sort of wall mount so he can say he has a peice of dad with him there in Ont. I think this will mean a little more than just one arrow.

Finally got my Blacktail. Norm got behind in his orders . If you want one its 13 months waiting time now. He only builds recurves now, he dropped the longbows.
