I hunt and target shoot with a compound and also hunt with a recurve once in a while and have been known to do some plinking with a longbow now and then.

It is a jennings. It was the smallest thing on the market at the time. I had lofty ambitions of getting over my fear of heights, I bought a brand new hanging tree stand along with it. I got the tree stand hung and almost managed to get into it. I got as far as standing on the platform, bent over holding the seat. In that position you are staring straight down. I froze and couldn't bring myself to get into or out of the stand. I was there in that state for a good 15 minutes. I eventually figured out that if worst came to worst I would just lower myself off the edge of the stand and drop the rest of the way. Turns out the drop wouldn't have been that bad as I could reach the platform, it wasn't even 8' up! I tried a few more times and managed to get it setup in a huge pine tree about 5' up. I got sick 1/2 way through the season so it went in the basement and didn't come out until I sold it 3 years later.

OOPS... THE RESON i BOUGHT A sUMMIT bISHMASTER CLIMBING Tree stand. Works great, lighweight, was always connect to the tree and facing it as well. Have pretty much gotten over my fear. The climber made a big improvement as, like you, 8 feet was too high but not anymore.
